Catch-up bookkeeping records every transaction from the months your books fell behind. Cleanup bookkeeping fixes books that exist but are wrong: duplicates, miscategorized expenses and accounts that don't reconcile. Both end with books that match your bank statements.
Bookkeeping falls behind for ordinary reasons: a busy season, a staff change, or a business that grew faster than its systems. Catch-up bookkeeping works through the backlog month by month until everything is recorded and reconciled.
